wood beds

Im debating on keeping my step side bed or going with a fleet bed. i have looked at the wood kits and wondered if i would save much money by getting a close friend that owns a cabinet shop to do my wood. does anyone have the layouts or dimensions of the wood pieces needed to do a step or fleet swb?
