Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

I wanted to post photos of my BP 383 crate motor to show how it arrives and the *almost* finished look in my 68'. I say almost because the fluids and electrical have not been plumbed. I purchased the motor from Summit for $4195 complete. I later got them to price match Jegs which had it on sale for $3995. Saved me $200! That price included 750 Edelbrock carb to oil pan, Edelbrock water and fuel pumps, Fuel lines between carb and pump, Mallory distributor w/coil, plugs and wires. It was fully assembled when it arrived in the crate. I was suprised to see the wires and plugs were already in place. I had to buy a flywheel, starter and pulleys. All came from Summit except the pulleys and alternator which came from Skip White.

As you can see the motor arrives fully assebled and crated. They even threw in the gasket set with left over gaskets. I had a hard time lifting the motor from the crate because my engine hoist wheels wouldn't fit around the crate and pallet. I had to use my sawzall to narrow the crate around the base of the motor.

Once I got the motor hoisted I lowered it and attached my 700r4 and dropped it in place. The load leveller works great in keeping the engine/tranny in the proper position. The last thing I wanted to do was scratch up my nice firewall.

With the engine in place I bolted up my Patriot Clipster Headers. These were an excellent fit!

Finally I bolted up the pulleys and alternator. I bolted up the radiator support and set the aluminum radiator in place just for looks.

Thumbs up Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Wow!! That looks great. I love that color & the work on your firewall looks fantastic. it's a great feeling to drive one of these old trucks with a brand new motor & new tires. Ya don't have to worry about a cell phone or 80 lbs of tools when everything is new. Thats gotta be the prettiest color i've ever seen on these trucks. Would you mind sharing the paint code or color & manufacturer? Keep up the great work... Your almost there. John

Second the awesome paint color. I would love to know to if you would share. Also would love to see a picture of the body to see more of the paint. Jeff.

The color is called Atomic Orange. It was available on the 2008 Corvette although the GM color is blended with less pearl than mine. I don't remember the paint code but if you search this site using that color name it will come up as I've posted it in a different thread.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

As far as shots of the whole truck..well, it's not much to look at just yet. I only had the engine bay, interior of cab and doors painted. The body shop is currently re-skinning the tailgate and relocating the handle to the inside. Once I assemble the body they will shoot the exterior and cab together.

I don't think you will like that engine. You just need to pull it back out a let me have it.

J/K man. That looks really nice! That's gonna be a sharp truck when finished.

Re: Blueprint Engines 383 Stroker Crate Motor

Thanks everyone for all the compliments. Like a lot of us here, I countless man hours in this truck. Thru it all there have been plenty highs and a lot of lows. More than once I have asked myself, "what the hell have I got myself into". To have others appreciate my unfinished work helps keep me motivated. My plan is to have this streetable and mostly done by May. That's 18 months work, start to finish. I'll never say she's done because we all know these are never done!
