2000 z71 leaf spring problem
I was admiring my z71 today and noticed it sags to the passenger side in the rear. I got to looking and saw that i am missing a bump stop on that side and i think i maxed that spring out. I was wondering what a set of springs would cost and would like to know what some of you guys would to in this situation?

Re: 2000 z71 leaf spring problem
I see you're from up north. My truck originally came from Indianapolis (bought it through Carmax) and when I changed my shocks a couple years ago, I noticed the bump stop looked funny, I touched it and it fell off. I then pushed on the other and it fell off too. Salt and water get down inside of the bumpstop and rusts out the metal. It seems odd to me that you could have dearched a spring, but I guess it's possible?

Re: 2000 z71 leaf spring problem
Yeah the thing is i max that truck out on a regular basis, so there is no telling what is making it sag in the right rear, I haven't taken the springs out and inspected them but i cant see anything else making it sit like that, seeing the missing bump stop with all those heavy loads makes me think i overloaded that spring. I am going to measure the gaps between the rear tires and wheel wells and take a pic so u can see it.

Re: 2000 z71 leaf spring problem
Most chevy trucks from 99 on sag on the drivers side--and to get the spring out, it's a pita as the mounting bolts hit the gas tank or tow hitch when to try to pull them!! I replaced my drivers side with one from a wrecked truck---not sure I didn't waste my time but it does sit a little better today--would sag about 1.5 inch and now maybe just .5 inch.
