Project 64 K1500
One wasen't enuff so I'm starting another build. I bought a 64 to be my mule so I wouldn't scratch up my 65. One thing led to another and here we are.

Re: Here we go again.....
I plan on rebuilding the 4x4 chassis then a body lift with the swap. Then bigger tires. After that I'll decide on a suspention lift, if needed.

Re: Here we go again.....
I got the coolant drained and the raidiator removed. Then got the 4x4 in the shop so I can start the tear down.

Re: Here we go again.....
Some tear down and a free windshield for the 64. I don't understand the street tires on a 4x4 thing.

Re: Project 64 K1500
I will enjoy watching this project as a buddy of mine is wanting to do the same thing with a 61 or 63 that he has, can't remember which.

Re: Project 64 K1500
what year is that donor? Looks like it has a 4 speed to? I LOVE the hydraulic clutch setup in my 86 K10, if that one is a 85 or newer it should have it to. Looks like it will be a great project!

Re: Project 64 K1500
I'm not sure. I'll look next time I go out to the shop. It had the same grill my 86 had back in the day but it has manual clutch linkage. If It's to much of a pita transfering the linkage to the 64 I will probaly get a kit to convert it to hydro.

Re: Project 64 K1500
I pulled the 64 onto the concrete part of my driveway and gave it a good bath. Got all that green chet off that was growing on it. I'm going to go ahead and fix the bad rust spots on it and since they are mostly on the lower half I was thinking about useing bedliner on the lower half. That would make that part of the truck a little tuffer and keep it from rusting.
Badges say it's a 65. Title and vin say 64. Havent decided if I'm going to go badgeless or put 64 badges on it. |

Did some work on the cab to. I showed the pics to my dog and all she could say was RUFF. Fixed the drip rails and removed the driver's rocker.

Re: Project 64 K1500
I decided to take another crack at the K chassis and was talking to a friend about it. He told me he had good body with good title he would sell me for cheap so I'm back on this again. I'm going to run the 1/2 ton running gear and throw a 350 in till I can afford to go Vortec and D60 axles. So back in the shop with it and got the parts truck. It is an 83.
