spare tire
The trouble with having a low rider truck is that the spare doesn't fit under the bed, therefore I've been running around without one. Well, no more. I found a smoothie wheel that needed some cleaning up on craigslist for $30, and a pair of low mile BFG Radials haggled down to $50 (so I still have an extra). Add: Misc hardware, chain, lock, and paint from home Depot: $40
Trailer fender from Spectrac: $20. I'm still $50 ahead of what Summit wanted for a new matching wheel/tire, and I gave it a little bit of UV protection in the bed. The tire needed some cleaning up...  Mounted up...yes, the center area is painted as a means to treat the surface rust. I also scrubbed down and hit the backside of the wheel with the same gray paint.  I'm pretty happy with the rattle can color match to the roof.   Locked in place  All done.

looks great.
Only issue I see, is it creates a blind spot. I placed one on the passenger side once and it took me less than a day to move it to the drivers side. |

Great creativity...I found out that w/o a spare tire You dream flat tires... and With a jack and a spare you're there on the side of the road fixing a flat. I guess I worry to much about fxing a flat on the side of the road. But with your spare that issues is solved .

For my lowered truck I use a donut spare from an Astro van along with a vinyl cover I found in the jy.

I made everything but the cover itself. That's a trailer fender I found at a hitch/spring shop.

Good work D-Rat. The thing I like about is that it didn't require you to weld and can be removed if you wanted to. Also, can be used on either side.
