Locking the hubs for lube?
I was looking over the owners manual of my 79 k20 today and it said to drive at least 10 mi per month with the hubs locked for proper lubrication. I had never heard this before and was wondering if any of you do it with your 4x4s.

I try to. When you lock the hubs, the tires will spin the axles and splash the oil around the differential. The diff is what really needs lubed.

yup,take it to the beach ,sand or mud, snow ,ice not dry pavement,keeps things from seizing up,till ya need it.
lol lube it or lose it!!

yep, the upper half of your ring gear in the diff isn't sitting in oil... It can actually rust (especially if you get moisture inside) but if you splash it around every once in awhile it will help. Also keeps the axle seals and hubs greased up. Dry seals will eventually crack, rot and leak too...
