Gauge Cluster , Dash advice, help please

Hey, i have a 1960 chevy with the original gauge cluster, speedo works, has fuel gauge and temperature gauge only, and dummy lights for oil psi and generator. i would like to cut out the oil psi and generator spot like the other two to put gauges behind so it looks factory, i will either cut the original piece or get a new piece laser cut, cut out sheet metal and bead roll the details.. etc.. i was wondering if anyone else has done this b4, any pics or info? where can i get factory looking gauges-if i can? another idea i had was for my tach. i dont want to bolt my tach to the colum, to.. tacky.. haha. so i think im going to put it in the ash tray hole, will be a small tach, also wondering if anyone has done this before and what you think about it. a rectangle tach would be nice, but i will probably make a plate for a round tach and face it towards the driver, since i dont think i can get a tach to fit lol. even a half round would look right i think, from the hood of a late 60s gm car or sumthing. what do u guys think? show me what you did to b4, i looked around on here and seen alot of very nice clusters, just nothing like what i want really

Re: Gauge Cluster , Dash advice, help please

Personally if you are looking to add gauges to your orig cluster just look for the 60-63 cluster with the gauge package, you can commonly find them on ebay and generally can get the whole thing for the cost of a couple of aftermarket gauges, I might even have one hanging around. Tach wise factory put them in either side of the actual cluster with gauges and they make them aftermarket or you can fab one in.. That way if you want to keep the orig look/feel you change nothing but some wiring behind the scene.

BigR

Grabbed a pic online of the one I am talking about, the tach is located on the R side. One with orig tach will cost ya around 200$ when they show up forsale, cluster like the one shown seen them go around 100$ quite often and then you can add a tach.
