Re: Pics of Progress...

2 Things. #1 Your tank is in backwards. The lowest end (sump) should be at the back. Unless otherwise stated by the dealer you bought it from but i doubt it. The way you have it will not allow your pump to pull fuel when accelerating and your tank is not full. Gas goes to the back when you accelerate. #2 get rid of those plastic see through fuel filters. They can melt and cause your truck to become a brown color. I have seen several peoples trucks have this happen. Go with a metal or alum housing filter. suprised someone else did not see that. BUT, your truck is looking good.

I'm pretty sure that is the way it is meant to be, at least that is the way mine is. My fuel feed is in the front of the tank and with the rake of my truck that is where the lowest point of my tank is..... I totally agree on the plastic fuel filters.

Re: Pics of Progress...

looks like you have a great start , wish my truck was that far along

as for the tank i going to say its in backwards but thats just the dragracer in me sayin that , when you stomp the right foot down , gas goes to the back of the tank[baffles or not the fuel is going to the back of the tank] and thats where the fuel pickup should be , learned that the had way by the car stumbling from not gettin fuel , turned the tank around and that fixed the problem , now on a street car ,or in this case truck ,it may or may not be a problem

Re: Pics of Progress...

Coach,

Looking great, nice work so far! I have almost the exact same exhaust setup except mine dump out the side right in front of the rear wheels and let me tell you...it sounds gooood.

Are those 40's?

I'm that jerk that rolls down the road real slow almost idling next to the sidewalk then give it a good bump crack of the throttle and watch the people on the sidewalk jump lol. I try not to do it to the older folks though

I know, I know...I'm a jerk.

Re: Pics of Progress...

Tnkblazerk5 is the same mind set as me. Street you MAY be OK. but having the pick up in the back will never hurt, I just want to avoid starving the engine and pump.

Re: Pics of Progress...

I'm 99% sure your tank is correct... They build them this way for added ground clearance towards the rear of the truck. When your tank is below a 1/4 tank or so you may run into fuel starvation problems but you will have this issue no matter what direction it is. The only way to totally prevent starvation is building a fuel pot with trap doors, check balls, etc. For street use I think you won't have an issue.

Re: Pics of Progress...

hey that looks just like my exhaust too, but mine has turndowns right after the muffler. everything looks good, now throw a seat in it and some doors on it and take it for a cruise! I drove mine a few times without a bed and you sure can light up the tires easy!

Re: Pics of Progress...

Spend the money on AEROQUIP push'loc style hose and AN fittings from fuel pump to carb. I absolutely do not like hose clamps on the pressure side of the fuel pump. One of my pals came over to visit one sunny day last summer in his Cobra replica and his intake manifold had an inch of fuel laying in the valleys right behind the distributor. He had a hose clamp tht was loose! I do not know why it did not catch fire!
