If you want it to work, you'll need to pull your panel apart and paint the insides white or blue. There is this funkey greenish hue that will make any light you put in there look like crap.

Pretty easy I think. Once you have the panel out of the truck, use a 1/4 inch socket and take it all apart. You'll need a 5/16 socke for the fuel guage and amp guage. Once you get it taken apart, you'll see the funkey green crap. Paint it all. Just make sure to tape off the hole openings. If you look, you'll see it is bent over, you can see that when the assembly is put together.
I have a couple taken apard at the momen. If you like, i can get some pics and post them, but it won't be untill tomorow evening. I'm fixin to head home right now and won't be back on till tomorow night. |

Here is the inside of the back piece;
![]() And then the inside of the front piece. You don't need to be real carefull on getting the tape right, as long as it stays on the green and none gets on the black. ![]() This works awsome. |

Well if you want it to be brighter, couldn't you paint it silver, therefore it'd reflect light better.

I just did mine and its great!
I ask the same advice a few months ago because my dash was too dim so I pulled the cluster off and painted that plate white, I also painted the glass (clear plastic) where the green was and but blue bulbs in the cluster. Boy is it bright blue! It lights my whole cab up at night and you wont be disapointed! I did the white incase I want to do red someday to mix things up alittle. If you paint the board the same color, your obligated to that color bulb. Thanks< Dave

I painted the inside of my taillight housing chrome, and it is as bright as a new car's lights now. I might do the same with the dash.

I was thinking of painting the inside as well, but am going to wait for a new lense, since I cracked mine some time ago
![]() Last few times I looked, all I could see was the older style lenses with the "generator" section.

I tried blue and red bulbs but it was so dim I could'nt see squat. So I should paint insides white or color of bulbs? Has anyone tried red?

Just took it for a test run, the light is probably 10X brighter. I painted the parts longhorn is showing with that cheap chrome paint, it worked really good. I would recommend it to anyone looking to change their light color.

Hmmm, interesting. Mine came out blue as can be.
Are your bulds real blue when you look at them (like in your hand) or are they kinda greenish? I have seen some blue ones that looked kinda funny. Other than that, i can't think of what it might be. |

I will use chrome paint also. It must reflect great. I would expect to find a dirty film on inside glass after 30 yrs. also.

my autometer guages came with green and red bulb covers. I used the green ones to match the stereo and factory speedo. I was thinking of going with green and red next christmas just for fun
