These are pics of my 68 with the 307.

Unrestored found on a farm. Origional cobwebs and all. Unfortuantley for me some vandals made their was onto our farm and cut out all the radiators a few years ago.

No plans with the engine or truck right now.

I see you have the Same A.I.R Reactor emissions thing i do. You plan on keeping it or no? I'm still 50/50. I have the information pamphlet that came with the truck.

Re: Any one with a 307 out there ?

Someone told me a while back that the 307's could be built to be a pretty stout motor. They are high revving, good torque motors. Any truth to that?

Re: Any one with a 307 out there ?

I personally have never seen one to be anything even close to a mild 350 so when i was redoing my truck i yanked my motor out and built a small block 400 instead...thats just me.

It looks like KevsClassics took his off. Me, I don't know. The truck was picked up for this...

I dont have a title either. The truck is a 3 speed and looks like it was parked some 10-15 years ago. So I dont think I'll ever get it running.

As far as the AIR Reactor thing. I was hoping that someone out in California would need one and that these things were worth Serious $$$$

But who knows.

I would also add... build the truck you want. If I had a decent 307 and didnt ever tow or need the more HP of the 350 I would stay with what you have.

I've heard the 307's also cost a little more to rebuild but cant say for sure.

Dont the 307's and the 327's share the same block with the small journal crank. If so could you build your 307 into a 327? I dont know just thinking out loud.

Good luck.

Re: Any one with a 307 out there ?

i'd rather have the 305 than the 307 in my 72 burb. i'm ditching the 2 barrel and putting an edelbrock intake and rebuilt '84 q-jet (stuffed with edelbrock parts) on it to wake it up enough to use for towing. but realistically, anything with less than a 305/350 crank is just lame and i can't wait to swap in my bad boy 406sbc. if i didn't have that bigger engine all ready to go, i'd eventually pull my 307 anyway and throw a 400 crank in it and a full RV spec roller valvetrain. the 307 is a shorter stroke engine like the 307 which means by design it is a high rpm friendly, but it was tuned for low rpm truck use so it just is fighting itself in my opinion.

Good luck with that one, out here anything over 25 years old is exempt from emissions inspection. But it might be worth something to someone doing an original restore and needed it. If it were mine I'd yank it off and toss it, but I'm not big on the all stock thing like alot of guys are. Sorry I can't help out with pics.

Re: Any one with a 307 out there ?

Let's think this through for a sec: The vandals need a radiator, so they find the oldest, most ignored truck in town and steal it... I suppose there's a chance that it's better than what they had, but really?? Not too bright.

Well I lost 8 radiators that day.
87 Dodge, 72 Chevy, 91 F150, Two that were in the bed of my 70 Longbed and one from each of my three scouts.

It was for the scrap value of the metal. At least that's the only thing I could come up with. Oh they took a Turbo350, a Holly carb and every battery they could get their hands on.

Very nice 307's guys!

I'd agree wht the earlier post. If you are going for origional then the 307 is fine but dont spend your money on a rebuild. Get a 350 and enjoy!
