voltmeter check?
ive gotten all the other guages working now (big relief) except the voltmeter. i dont really know how to use the "voltmeter" tool, but how can i check out this problem? i know of the brown wire from the alternator, and im sure the alternator works fine because the battery is keeping up a charge just fine. can i try and find the brown wire at the firewall and tap a test light into it while the truck is running or will this burn up something?

Re: voltmeter check?
use a voltmeter to check and see how much the alternator is putting out when its running.then chase the wires and see if you got any broking or lose connections

Re: voltmeter check?
can i put the voltmeter on the wire at the cab to see if its putting out the same voltage? i knida went crazy with the electrical tape when i put the split loom on and that would be easier than cutting it all off and chasing it physically

That's what I'd do, If you have the same output at the gauge then I'd suspect a bad gauge....If no voltage start stripping loom looking for a break in the wire.
