burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
hey.. as some of you know my truck is getting ready for paint. this is a huge deal for me i've been wanting Red Jewel Tintcoat since the beginning since the original color was burgandy. i just need some feed back or reassurance that its the right burgandy here's a pic on the new camaro. What other factory burgandy colors have you guys seen and just thought what a beautiful rich color??

I would go with what you have wanted all along. If you change the color you may be left wondering what it would have looked like. I like the color you have picture.

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
I had an '89 IROC that was a similar burgundy color, slightly more orange and a little less pearly. It was called Flame Red, IIRC. At any rate, I really liked it (paint was fresh, not faded like most these days).

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
Go cruise the new car lots. Lexus has a really nice red on the GS series, and I like the red on the new CTS as well. I am pretty sure the Cadillac (it might actually be the same color on the Camaro above) is a three stage paint, which means there is a tinted midcoat as well. That just means more paint to buy, and red is not cheap. One of our red toners was $825, just for one of the toners. Just something to keep in mind. With the cost of all paint these days, make sure you really like the color.

I think you're right about the CTS being the same color. They use it on Impalas too.

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
Red Jewel is a tri-coat. GM uses it on a ton of vehicle across the board. There is going to be extra depth created by how the tri-coat is composed. So, in that respect Dennis, stick with the color. Yes, it will cost you more, but it is worth it for the extra little touch it will give. But keep in mind also that repairs will be more expensive too. (Just so you think about all aspects of picking a color.)

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
I painted a car a few years ago and the paint came from oreillys. They have all the factory colors on a page to choose from and I'm sure most body shops have the same thing to pick the color you like. But how could you go wrong with a factory 2010 camaro color.

The Red Jewel color is awesome but it is a tri coat color. There are custom colors available with ppg paint that is similar. I painted my engine carb air cleaner a 2006 mitsubishi red color that looks real similar. I'll see if I cand find some pics. Here is a vibrance red from ppg.

I LOVE that color. It is absolutely gorgeous. I think your truck will really pop with that color out in the sunlight. Especially when you throw the polished 20 inch coys on there...

I would stick with your guns Dennis. Like Frank said if you change now after wanting it so long, you will regret it later. That red jewel is an awesome color.

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
I'd like the red jewel. I was looking at those when I was finding colors for my truck. I almost used that for the two-tone inset but then i kept it solid gray.

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
Wow! That truck looks really good. That's almost the same color I've picked out for mine. I'm going to keep the orignal two tone scheme though.

I have always liked Candy Brandywine, but if you have had your heart set on a certain color " Red Jewel" i would stick with that. Best of luck....

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
You may consider talking to your painter about price of paint. As mentioned red is the most expensive solid color. When you add toners and tri-cots your costs goes through the roof.
There are several colors out there that will get very similiar results. They may not be "as" vibrant in the perfect light. but you don't always have the perfect light.

Re: burgandy colors!! need opinions here...
thanks for all the input! Tony the monte looks sweet man
as for the price....... i dont really care how much extra it will be. when we're talking about thousands of dollars whats a few hundred more? i just want it to be "right" if that makes sense. but i will give him a call today and ask him the price differences sense we're already at the top of the budget according to the wife!
