1982 Fuel Pump.
I got a 1982 Chevy K10 4x4 dual fuel tanks that originally came with a 305. PO installed a 454 There are two fuel lines going to the fuel pump. Do each of these lines go to a different fuel tank or is one a supply and one a return??

One should be the "in" or supply from the tanks and the other will be the "out" or supply to the carb.

the threaded one goes to the carb. the larger of the 2 unthreaded one is the supply line from the tank(s) and the smaller one is a fuel return line.

lurch115 is right. If you chase the lines back to the fuel selector valve you'll see that each tank has a supply and return line to and from it.

I was thinking that but was unsure. I kept smelling fuel but couldn't find any leaks anywhere then last night I seen something dripping. Come to find out it was the smaller of the two un-threaded lines. Cut the bad end off and put a new clamp on. Hopefully I won't loose any more gas, the 454 drinks it fast enough as it is.

IF you hook up the return line to a stock pump OR use a different lower plate for an aftermarket pump to get the opening for the return fitting. This little line will help on any fuel vaporization problems. I had a problem when I went to a different fuel pump and the reconnection of the return line helped me out quite a bit on vapor locking. It did not completely solve the problem, but a good share of it is now gone.
