69 4x4 closed knuckle 44
I have a 69 C-20 4x4 with power steering and I am looking to get some parts for the front end. The drag link is worn and one ball joint but I can't find listing for parts anywhere. Has anybody bought parts for one of these lately?

Re: 69 4x4 closed knuckle 44
I have found that there isn't ball joints in the closed knuckles and there is kin pins and steering bearings. Typically the steering bearings wear and not the pin itself. But I can't even get a part number for those. I am going to have to pull it apart and get the numbers off the bearings and get bearings.
As far as the drag link I can't get a part number for it either. My buddy owns a shop and he has called all of his suppliers and no one lists anything for a 69. The GM part number for a 69 is different than a 70 and different than the 71-72. However the aftermarket world list 70-72 as the same. My drag link is one-piece. And the 71-72 are 3 piece (ends and adjuster). The only thing that could be different I guess would be the taper. So I will have to get them and try it.

Re: 69 4x4 closed knuckle 44
Several people have Emailed me about this P/S conversion, so I will list some
part numbers. If you use the stock closed knuckle (1960-1969) Dana front end you must use these drag link parts with the 70-86 Power Steering Box. Latter steering boxes require different hose fittings. NAPA 269-1105 Tie Rod End NAPA 269-2441 Drag Link 1970-1986 ES2234R 1985 Blazer Tie Rod The closed knuckle front end has a smaller taper and requires the Blazer Tie Rod. If you use the 70-86 disk brake Dana front end, then a standard Tie Rod end for those years will work. I do not have that part number handy. I have had P/S on both of these axles on my 68 truck. The newer axle offers disk brakes, no knuckle seal and a tighter turning radius. Plus I used the Sway Bar from the 76 front end. I also recommend the quick ratio Steering Box. Several people make and offer these. One being, AGR Performance Steering, unit #292117 for $350. You can find a used GM P/S box for under $100. Edwin Erlbacher Dallas TX

Re: 69 4x4 closed knuckle 44
Hi. You can get a lot of these parts on Rockauto.com. Knuckle bearings, seals, etc - I got mine for my 62 there. Make sure you look under K-20, and know your axle - 44f/44hcf, etc. I got the knuckle seals and wipers from quad4x4.com, and I believe they are also available form JC Whitney.
