windows hard to roll up
Hey guys, I have no ideas here, The windows in my truck were power( YUK!) that didnt work or work very well when they did. I changed it back to roll ups with new weather stripping, glass and all that. rolling the windows up is like wrestling an alligator, very hard to roll, which in turn has stripped the window handles. any ideas?
The window is free to move up and down ( checked before regulator was in). One regulator is a newer one and the pass side is stock.

Re: windows hard to roll up
I squirt a little silicone spray on the seals, makes it easier to roll them up when the seals are new

Re: windows hard to roll up
I had the same problem and I took off the inside door panel and applied some grease to the half moon gears that make the window go up and down. After a few turns it was much easier to roll up and down

I put a whole gob( not really but enough) of lube on those gears before I put it together, man what a pain

Re: windows hard to roll up
I have no idea WHY someone would want them.

Re: windows hard to roll up
I predict something is binding or not installed correctly, because, even with new run channels, wiskers and vent assembly runner, the glass should glide smoothly and without much effort. I have installed new innards, without any lubrication and had smooth operators, so I don't think any amount of lub is going to solve the issues. If you are stripping out window rollers, something is incorrectly installed and causing the problem. If I was closer, I would lend you a hand, but you are about 8-9 hours south of my shop.
In any case, good luck with the problem and let us know what you find out. |

Re: windows hard to roll up
What about those nylon/plastic rollers inside there... are they in good shape?

Re: windows hard to roll up
All the parts are in good shape, rollers and such. I havent had time to take it apart again, ya know gotta pay bills, besides the boss doesnt like me to work on my truck while he is thinking I am at work. Weird huh?
I will check the mechanics of the regulator and let everyone know, thanks for the help.
