Re: cherry bomb turbo mufflers
could be a bad weld? you can always have another put on later i would replace one now and the other later, but on the other hand it could just be that brand so replacing one will just delay the inevitable..
flowmasters..... problem solved or.. no mufflers, it can't fail if it ain' there

Re: cherry bomb turbo mufflers
the first one got a crack on the top about 6" the second one seams to be blown from the inside maybe moisture from sitting rotted it out inside it was strange that both blew within hours of each other

Re: cherry bomb turbo mufflers
Not necessarily. I am replacing a Flowmaster that has been thermal coated. It is rusting from the inside out.

Re: cherry bomb turbo mufflers
Valid point Frank. I would have thought the coating would have protected it. Unfortunately it rusted from the inside out.

never been a fan of glass packs of any kind. they are just noise and show...and annoying to old geezers!
seems cherry bombs are like a tradition or a right of passage, everyone has to try them at one time or another. for a little more money, you can get turbos for an actual [small] power increase, a little more quiet, and are usually constructed better.

Re: cherry bomb turbo mufflers
maybe you had a really bad backfire, i mean it might of been messed up already but that was the last straw. I would of changed them both, My cousin has an exhaust shop though. The guy underneathe the truck didnt tell you the other one looked bad, usually when we get cars and trucks on the lift we usually do a test of all the components, basically hit the cats, mufflers and move the exaust around. when you hit the muffler it should be solid. Go with some dynomax mufflers and be done with it. better sounding and more reliable. I think cherry bomb is making a comeback but they still dont convince me.
