edelbrock 1903, 795 cfm carb
well first off is this carb way to big for a stock 76 350? the PO put it on and im either goign to replace it or try to hook it up
also it is a hot air choke style, how would i hook that up on a stock 76 blazer with the 350? i have more questions but we'll start there |

hmmm, are you putting a 800 CFM on a stock 350, just save yourself the time and get a 1406, 600 CFM

Re: edelbrock 1903, 795 cfm carb
my other blazer has the 600, manual choke and it works great, id love another one of those
the 800 was already installed by the PO, he said he he couldnt get it to run so he put on a new carb and an electric fuel pump a new manual pump, and new spark plugs and it runs, ok i think the carb is the problem, it smells like its running rich and it pops every now and then like their is extra gas in the exhaust, also it has a hot air choke which i htink will be a pain to hook up and i dont know where to hook up the coal canister so my best bet would be to run a 600 then? |

Re: edelbrock 1903, 795 cfm carb
For a stock engine or even a slightly modified SBC, the 800 is way too much. It will work fine at 4000 RPM, but kill you on the street. The 600 or the Edelbrock AVS 650 is a better choice. I tried a 750 on my truck with a stroker engine and the truck ran fine on the highway, but it was overcarbed on the city streets. There is an equation for air velocity, that the Edelbrock, Holley, and Carter companies use and that will tell you that you don't want the 800 CFM, unless you have a lighter vehicle and you are racing it.
