Question Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

Ok guys need some help. I know there is a bit of a difference in the front bumpers because of the turn signal lights in the GMC grille, (the GMC one has indents where the lights are) Is it really that noticeable if I use a chevy bumper how much different would it look. If anyone has some goods pics of the front of there GMC and Chevy trucks so I could compare that would be great, thanks again. By the way my truck is a 68 GMC.

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

LMC Truck lists different part numbers for the following, so I'd imagine each would be its own group. Hope this helps!

67-70 Chev AND 67-68 GMC share same part number
71-72 Chev
69-72 GMC

Thus I'm no expert, but anything from a 67-70 Chev or 67-68 GMC should fit a 68 GMC.

Here's a pic of a GMC bumper on my 72 GMC. The indents aren't all that noticeable, but it's your call. I would put a GMC bumper on a GMC.

The reason I was asking was just in case I could not get the right bumper because some parts books list the same numbers for the front bumpers.
I had put in an order in with a guy who I usually have get me parts and he came back with good news that he is able to get me the GMC bumper. If I hadn't put so much work into the truck it wouldn't matter but I would rather do it right.
Chevydog, that's an awesome looking ride you have. I like the head lights you have in that grille can I ask what brand or style they are?

Thanks to everyone else too

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

i notice gmc bumpers on chevys all of the time, imo it would be ok for a farm truck, maybe a dd but not ok for cruise or show quality.

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

as indicated above, the 67 and 68 GMC used the same bumper as a chevy... no cut outs.

Mine has the Chevy bumper. Mine was painted, this was chromed, I was young and didn't know any better. Most people don't seem to notice, but I would like to put the GMC bumper back on.

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

Just re-read my post. Guess it didn't make much sense. Mine does have the Chevy bumper on it (see above). It originally had a white GMC bumper, but I wanted a chrome one, so I had traded it. Didn't realized until after it didn't have the indents for the lights. Does it work... yes, but it would be nice to have the proper one on.

What is the difference if they are the same as the chevy bumper, that makes not a bit of sense IMO, just because one said CHEVY and the other said GMC now your being racist haha, no but it dont matter what bumper you have on they are all the same just one does not have the indents, unless your just wanting to flush some bucks, you can just pass those bucks my way I wont mind lol

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

you guys are making this harder than it has to be.
67/68 used a chevy bumper on the GMC. They were the same. They looked like the large photo that timski69gmc posted.
On 69 - 72, there was a small indentation .. a relief cut if you will, to help show more of the turn signal lens. If you put the 67 - 70 chevy bumper on the later GMC, it'll look just like timski69gmc's 69 GMC.

Re: Front Bumpers GMC ? Chevy?

Good answer. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize the 67-68 had the plain bumper. I think the truck I traded from was a 68. But it was so long ago, I don't recall. Still might change it out, I like the indents. Might have a nice shiny bumper for sale!
