Kick Panel Vents
I have been trying to figure out what to do with my kick panels for the longest time and thought that yall would know!
I don't have pictures but I have a 71 GMC Stepside with was factory AC (not working) and the kick panel vents are completely open. There is not a panel to close it nor do I see holes as to where something was removed. So in the past winters I have had to stuff them with foam to keep from freezing to death!! My brother used to have a 72 Cheyenne Super that had the vents and levers that you pulled to open/close them. What would I need to fix this? More foam? Thanks Jonathan |

You should have a door on them lol may buy a doors and new seal (i htink there is a seal)

yeah I would have assumed so! Do you know exactly what they are called? I looked at Brothers and couldn't find them. Heck I need to ask for used ones in the forum but I would like to look at a magazine first to see what I needed?

I think the vent doors aren't produced anymore. At least, I haven't seen them. The seals are though. You'll have to find a set in a junkyard or on this site.

It looks like you may have to drill a couple holes where the pull rod screws to the kick panel, likely where the two small spots are there. I can't tell from the pictures if you have holes for the hinge pins (There are two hinge pins on the door, one at the top and one at the bottom) -- you can't see the hinge pins on the picture I posted, they are on the back side, but these fit into holes in the vent at top and bottom, and the pull shaft screws to the kick panel

Thanks dwfright, That sounds like it is doable at any rate. I'm going to be looking for a pair on here. I do see what you mean about the dimples and an angle drill should make hinge pin holes fairly easily
My the question of the day is...What did the PO need to weld those square patch panels to cover up?! (seen right behind my e-brake in the last pic) |

We sell the same part $40.00 each kind of pricey. You can buy the rubber and rebuild a used set if you can pick them up somewhere for a lot less money

Yeah that is a bit high. I am talking to a guy about some rusty old ones that still work for like $15 + shipping. A little cleaning and black paint and it should be fine. Thanks for your help and honesty.
