Whats Needed
Hey Guys,
I have an opportunity to pick up a 95 k2500, for cheap. Its rotted but has a complete running 350 and an automatic. My question is I am looking to install fuel injection on my project Zues, and this may be the way to go for me. What is needed to make this 95 engine work in my truck? Will I have to use the tranny and transfer case from the 95? Will I have to use a speedo from a newer truck to work with the 95 electronics? Just asking cause I dont have much time, and was hoping for a quick response from the experts instead of fumbling around doing a search. Or should I just stick with the carb on my low mileage 350 I already have? Just so you know I am giving 500 bucks for the truck. Sarge

Re: Whats Needed
95 is still a TBI motor. You would need the computer, all the harnesses, fuel pump and regulator, and all applicable sensors. As for the speedo, I know there is a pulse width modulator for going mechanical to electronic, so I would assume there is one for elec to mech. All in all, it wouldnt really be that difficult to do.

Re: Whats Needed
I was thinking maybe I would keep the TH400 that is in my current project truck and sell off the TC and tranny if I purchased the truck.
And yes I will have the engine harness, fuel pump, lines, tank, regualtor etc. All that stuff was new, it belongs to a customer of mine and I replaced the fuel system in that truck last summer due to rot. The truck now needs so much work he just wants rid of it. I just wanted to to know if I could make it work and TBI would be nice to have, if its doable realatively cheap if I have a donor truck with all the parts. I guess that the hardest part is gonna be making the wiring harness work with the old 85 fuse block. I was gonna look inot a new harness from painless, or someone esle, is that something I could have them make with all the proper connections at the bulk head in the fire wall. Sarge

Re: Whats Needed
Looks like I made the deal, I just got to thinkin that I may have to remove he serp. belt set up and install whats on my current 350 because of my plow pump. The pump is on the side that the alt. is on on the 95 engine. Is the alternator still useable with just a pulley sway?
Looks like it will be more complicated than I thought, but I made out ok I think cause I traded it for a old rusty jep pickup I used as a plow truck a while back. So worse comes to worse I'll just part it out and use what I have. Sarge

Re: Whats Needed
u should be able to use the alternator, might not be able to use the same mount. the local yard.u should be able to get brackets that would work for u to use for the other side.
