Bucket seats for you 67-72

Am I the only one that searches out every picture of a truck with bucket seats to see if they will look good in our trucks?

I am not a buddy bucket fan as I want something with a little mroe support. Then their are my picky things I want like no plastic lowering or very minimal,(seems most cars are covered in plastic around the bottom), I also want a removeable head rest so when I reupohulster them the top is at the window height and no higher.....

Well the seat I have come to thing is a good canidate is the 01 or so Hyundai Tiburon seats.... not to much plastic on the bottom, very supportive, multi adjustable, and the perfect height. best off all I found a set for $20 bucks with a tear in them but I am covering them in leather anyways.



anyone else have others?

I have been wondering how the cobalt ss seats would look in these trucks. I picked up a pair for cheap. I am debating between hanging onto them for a future truck or sticking them up on the cobalt forums for sale.

here is a picture of my truck but its only a partial. but these are honda seats and I also searched all over for a great set that I thought would look good in my truck.
also these have a removable headrest

I HAD A SET OUT OF A 69 GTO RECOVERED, & THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO PLASTIC ON THEM, BUT THATS GOING BACK QUITE A FEW YEARS. I LIKE TO SIT IN WRECKED CARS AT THE BONEYARD, & TRY ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF SEATS (BACK TROUBLE) .MOST HEADRESTS ARE REMOVABLE (ONE WAY OR ANOTHER) AND YOUR GONNA RECOVER THEM ANYHOW SO COLOR & MTL. DON'T MATTER. THE BEST PART IS THEY ARE STILL PRETTY CHEAP & THESE NEWER SEATS HAVE SOME PRETTY NICE ACCESSORYS & ARE PRETTY COMFORTABLE. JOHN

as my kids ride with me I have to have enough room for three so to me nothing beats a nice bench like these....even though buckets are pretty awesome.....

No to hi-jack:

that seat was made here in Fort Lauderdale Florida by a local upholstery shop. They cut and mold the foam, cut the brackets and put leather on it. That seat belongs to my buddies 72c10. I dont know how much it cost but the shop I am talking about said that he could redo mine to look the same for $750.00....the truck below....

Man, my brother used to have a good job at Lear Corp. (did many of the interiors for the Big 3), and he got me free leather seats for my Sierra, and also a spare set for his WS6 T/A! Wish I could still squeeze a couple more buckets out of that deal, but he got laid off!

I like those GTO seats, but they look a little thick, maybe limiting how far back you can put them...

I might just look into some MasterCrafts, great seats, but a little pricey.

i feel the same way about the "buddy Buckets" also i would like a modern low back(no headrest)bucket seat!!

I don't like seats where the back sits higher than the bottom of the rear window.

That looks great! I am looking for a solution for my 67 and I want buckets! One thing I hate is the seat covering the back window. You took care of that. Nice work! What did the seats and center council come out of?

Those are the best looking aftermarket seats that I have seen. Very nice.

I have these exact same seats upstairs in my barn! Pondered using them, but in my head they always seemed way too bulky to squeeze into the small single cab...
How do yours feel? Push you towards the steering wheel too much?

I've logged some miles in our 02 TransAm & 08 335i BMW. After some miles in each (no more than 2hr drives), I'm starting to get sore. You'd think there's enough support there that back fatigue would be minimal.

We drove back from Columbus OH (non-stop except for fill-ups, 17hr trip) in a 61 Buick bubbletop w/the original bench seat (or original style). I thought if the shorter trips in the late-model, more supportive seats produced soreness, I would be broken by the end of the trip. Not @ all. I got out @ every gas stop thinking WTF?? No soreness or back tension @ all. Got up the next day like I drove just a few miles to work & not through 5 states (TX was the longest portion of the trip).

Point is.... The buddy-buckets (or older car buckets) may not be so bad. I'm trying them out in my 64.

here's my new front bucket seats (courtesy of a 2006 suzuki forenza). and the best part is i only paid $80 for the pair. now i think i need to find another pair the same color for the back but not sure yet.

I am in the middle of hunting a deal on some seats, what are you guys using for brackets to mount the seats in your trucks?

I put in a seat from a 91 F250 which is a bench with a fold down armrest. I needed a bench so both my boys could ride with me! Once I had it recovered, the total investment in the whole project was about $200, and it looks great!

I made a couple of brackets like this for each side (picture is of the passenger side). I had to drill a single hole in the middle (top in this picture) to bolt the brackets to the floor - used the two original holes on the outside. I added two pieces to the rear bracket to bolt to the original seat belt hole (using integrated belts). I drilled and bolted the seat to the part that is bent up on the end.

look at the H2 or H3 seats can remember. They can be made to look good and almost period correct.
