Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
I just recieved my rear disc brake upgrades today from ebay's tomsclassics and everything is there but i emailed the guy and asked about replacement parts for when the pads and rotors will need to be replaced and i have not gotten a responce yet. I took a look at the brake rotors and found a part number of 5568 and as i checked i think that part number is a good part number for my local auotzone . I found the part number on there website and i think the brake pad are the same as the seville pads because the brake calipers look just like the seville calipers. The reson i picked this converson kit is because it is with in my price range and the other reson is the rotors look like they where made just for the six lug bolt pattern, not rotors that had the holes welded up and redrilled. What i was wanting to know is if any one has fould any brake rotors that fit the 6 lug bolt pattern. I have attached some pictures of the conversion kit. This kit was $399.00

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
that's a decent price... some of our board vendors have kits as well... 6 lug are a little harder to find, make sure they will fit your rims though... some 15" rims don't fit over calipers very easily...

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
This weekend the weather was nice so installed the rear disc brake conversion kit and it went pretty smooth. the only issues i came across was the parking brake cables housing is not as long as the old housing and i will need to move the tabs that hold the brake cable housing and the direction do not mention this step. I emailed the guy i got the kit from and tried to ask about replacement parts but i never got a reply.so i pushed on. I have not had the chance to move the tabs for the parking cables yet i decided to use the time to install new brake lines going to the brake calipers in the rear. Here are the pictures of the rear disc brakes and a few pictures showing the clearance between the brake calipers and the wheel. The wheels i am running are the 1980's model 15X8 truck rally wheels.

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
Those are the same as the 5 lug rotors, Part #5568 but they drill them for the 6 lug pattern first before they are drilled for 5 lug pattern.
If you search for the 5568 rotors they will be 5 lug at the parts stores. |

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
Are you selecting 'store' and then searching for the name?

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
Does looks snug, but if it doesn't rub, should be fine. Did you notice any shift in the wheel either in or out with this swap?

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
Hey 'New to This', nice thread. I just bought the same kit from 'Tomsclassics' off ebay, but without the rotors for $299. I really wanted to get drilled and/or slotted rotors to help decrease my stopping distance and minimize rotor warp. My Taurus and Yukon have required new rotors over the last couple of years due to warp so I've learned my lesson there I hope. I've found sets of 2 of the drilled and slotted for $200 - $100 depending on what you are looking for so I think I came out good. My rims will be 20" so I hope to not have the clearance issues.

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
There's also a phone number on the auctions, perhaps you could call and ask about replacement parts.

Re: Rear disc brake upgrades recieved
When you get the brakes installed, and the emergency brake adjusted you should apply the emergency brake. Make sure the emergency brake is working on both sides. Only one side was working on my truck. I called the company, and they send me a new caliper. After I received it they had UPS pick up the bad one at my house. I think I bought mine at Early Classics. They had me deal with the company that they get there parts from. Both companies are very nice to deal with.
