83 Parts Truck?
I have a 87 V2500 4wd with dump box (standard 8 ft box with dump) which runs well but the body is rough. I also have fairly nice 92 4wd extended cab which needs a new 700R4 trans. I am looking at an 83 4wd short box less engine but has a recent rebuilt 700r4 for $1,000. The body is in pretty good shape for a 83 so I am thinking of maybe dropping my 350 with TH 350 (which is fairly new) from my V2500 into the 83 and maybe replacing the 1/2 ton axles with my 2500. Then installing the 700R4 in to the 92. Any thoughts?

Re: 83 Parts Truck?
Well I looked at the 83 4wd short bed chevy truck. The box is crap, tailgate looks good, and the doors are rusted at the bottom. The cab is in decent shape but interior is rough. It looks like it has new front 3 leaf springs on each side and stabilizer cylinder. The front clip is off but looks ok. The trans was supposed to be rebuilt but it is hard to say. The engine is out and all the parts are in the cab. The rims look good and had 4 fairly new tires but has been sitting so long I think only two are still good due to side wall cracking. $1,000 is too steep for me. Maybe $700? I would post some photos but not sure how.
