73-87 mirrors on 67-72 chevy?
Has anyone ever installed the mirrors from a 73-87 model on the 67-72 body style? I like the look and functionality of the newer style mirrors versus the stock options available for the 67-72 years. Was there much work involved in making them fit right? I am new to the forum and surprisingly dont have any good pictures of my 69 chevy 3/4 ton long bed 4x4. I have not done much to it yet but my mirrors are junk and i want a good looking option. Thanks and hope to get some pics up soon.

Re: 73-87 mirrors on 67-72 chevy?
well, i'll be ditching the sport mirrors on my 72 burb in favor of some stainless flip out towing mirrors pulled off my dads 84 burb. they have the same size head as the tripod mirrors that were available in 72 (my dad's 72 burb had them) so you can actually see behind and beside you without issue. even the factory mirrors on my dad's current 87 burb are not as nice as the big head mirrors and i don' think they look good on our old trucks. i actually think the tripod mirrors are the best "fit" on these trucks (they are trucks, not sports cars) and you can build a spacer (tube/longer bolt) to bring them out for towing purposes like my dad did on his 72 25 years ago.

Thanks guys. I know what is supposed to be on my truck but was looking for a bigger option than the small round or square head mirrors. I really dont like the 3 point mirrors or truckers mirrors either. Since my truck is more likely to tow a trailer than be on a trailer big is better.

Re: 73-87 mirrors on 67-72 chevy?
unfortunately, what looks cool is not necessarily cool in practice. i just think the 3 point mirrors are the most useful on this era truck because they have a big (and tall) head but the frame is not as bulbous as a towing mirror. i happened to have a pair of towing mirrors, otherwise i'd spend the money and get the tripod mirrors. those tiny mirrors are like c-notches, air bags and 20 inches rims....they just seem out of place on a vintage 3/4 ton TRUCK! the little mirrors are better suited to a classic camaro.....they leave much to be desired BEFORE there is an 8 foot wide camper hitched up.
