dome light removal

how do you disconnect the dome light wiring?
cut it off as far back as you can reach? or is this part not worth pulling?

i'm pretty sure it runs down to the fuse panel and disconnects there and just pull it out

Re: dome light removal

If you ever need to replace one, the new ones should come with all the wiring attached. It's a PITA to run the wires, so before you pull the old ones out, cut them at the top and tape the new wires to the old ones. Now when you pull the wires out the bottom, they pull the new wires into place. I'm a lazy mechanic, I do things the easy way.

Re: dome light removal

Snip it. You'll need butt connectors or solder and shrink wrap when you get your new one.

Re: dome light removal

If you stick your hand into the opening behind the driver's door, those two wires will be running up that post and you can pull them back to that point. If you want to go farther, just take the aluminum trim from the door step out and th ewires run under it. One wire is hot all of the time and the other is a ground wire.

Re: dome light removal

I just installed a new dome light last week, it wasn't the easiest wire to run but I taped it to a straightened-out coat hanger and pushed it on through. Not too difficult.
