Valve Cover bolt torque specs?
I've replaced the valve cover gasket on my '67 250 c.i. I-6 and am wondering about torque specs...I found 45 inch lbs. in one of the books that I have, but my torque wrench doesn't do inch lbs...anyone help me out?
Thanks, Last edited by slategrove; 03-21-2010 at 04:31 PM. Reason: typo |

Re: Valve Cover bolt torque specs?
Really the key is to make sure your valve cover is perfectly straight/flat and that the holes aren't caved in, then only tighten the bolts just beyond finger tight. That should be all that is needed with a properly flat cover.

Re: Valve Cover bolt torque specs?
1 foot Lb is 12 inch Lb. so 45 inch pounds is 45/12 foot pounds or 3.75 ft-lb
