Re: My power plant

Quick question.I have a .030 over 350 (1975 monte carlo engine) that I built for my 64 stepside(that I might be selling). My question is,can I save and or use this motor for my 1998 tahoe with a vortec 350 ?Will most of my parts bolt up to this block, trans, intake, pulleys, water pump, ect,or is this block too old compared to the newer blocks' bolt patterns and ports? Any help? Thanks

Re: My power plant

you have to reuse the vortec heads and intake. the trans will bolt up as-well as motor mounts, ect. you have to use the '98 waterpump as it is reverse rotation. the pulley brackets should work fine once the vortec heads are installed and you have to get a fuel pump block-off plate if your '98 has the electric pump in the tank which i'm pretty sure it does. correct me guys if i left anything out.

Re: My power plant

It also depends on how the engine is built. That 'RV' cam may not be EFI compatable. If those pistons give 9:1 with the 76cc chambers, the compression may be a little much with the 64cc Vortec heads. Or is it 9:1 with the 58cc 305 heads? You will have to use a flexplate for the 2 piece rear main, not the one on the '98 Vortec engine. You will need to change the timing cover and use the one with the crank position sensor, as well as the reluctor ring on the crank. They're both small blocks, so most everything will bolt on. You just have to be careful when dealing with EFI so you don't cause issues with the ECM trying to control the engine and trans.
