1963 GMC Instrument cluster

I have a fairly plain instrument cluster that has been cobbled by PO. It was spray painted with rattle cans over top of some of the lights and there was a paint can top glued over the hole on the far left. I wonder what was supposed to be there? it looks like my truck came with three gauges. Water temp, speedometer, and fuel gauge. There is an after market tach on the far right but its a small one and isn't centered in the hole. The paint cap hole was hacked out for something at one time definitely not factory. There is also a light that was lower left that is broken out. What would that be? Is there a source for parts to put this back right or do start looking for a used one to replace it all together?

I think the top one but not sure. I would have to look at it again. I know it didn't have the outer two gauges.

Re: 1963 GMC Instrument cluster

They were accessory gauges, if you had the basic instrument panel which is like the one on the top, it would have the black centered plastic unit with the speedometer, oil pressure and water temperature only. There is a similar instrument panel on the larger trucks with two plastic units, The dash below it is the Deluxe instrument panel.

Re: 1963 GMC Instrument cluster

So are there parts available for these clusters? I would like to replace the light lenses that were painted over and replace the broken one. which reminds me... what is that light at lower left supposed to be?

I would simply look for a dash in better shape. There's a yard near my property in Markdale ON. Also check with http://www.oakdalegarage.com/

Re: 1963 GMC Instrument cluster

I copied them all. I love stuff like that. I try to find anything like that for cars I buy. It will be a great reference for swapmeets. Would most of that stuff be the same for 1963? Also would you know what the Ontario seatbelt law says about older vehicles like this that dont have them?

Re: 1963 GMC Instrument cluster

Its American. It was built in Pontiac Michigan then shipped to Mississippi where it spent it's entire life until 7 years ago. when it taken to Michigan. I bought from a guy there and brought it over here a couple of weeks ago.

Sick5 that looks like a much better panel than mine. I see all the lenses are gone for the lights do you have those too or are they part of the actual cluster? What do you want for it?

That panel in original form is silver with a black inset and chrome around the perimeter.

Re: 1963 GMC Instrument cluster

aerotruk63 I went to that website you posted it looks like that guy has everything that LMC has but it's already in Canada. I ordered a gas tank filler hose from LMC and they called me the next day to tell me that the shipping was $47 for a $17 order. I told them to cancel it. I think it's a rip off for us to have to pay that much for stuff. Everything is already marked up 30% as it is that we buy here. Then to have to buy stuff and have it shipped here is crazy expensive. Did you know about that guy in Chattem that sells Eastwood stuff? He sells his stuff for the Eastwood price plus the exchange. ships same day too most of the time.
