Unhappy what a wonderful night last night was

My friend and I were going home from the city last night and we came across some peel out marks we had left earlier. So I put it in Reverse so we could see how far they had gone and it took off and peeled out in reverse. The throttle got stuck wide open! So to keep us from going into a ditch I droped it into drive and off we went peeling out for about 20 ft. There is nothing quite like going 60 down a dirt road at 9:30 at night with your throttle stuck open. So to slow it down I had to ride the brakes for a quarter of a mile til we got the the highway, then I killed it and we pulled over to the side of the road and slid to a stop. So as we let the brakes cool we look at the carb. We used some carb cleaner on it and when you move the throttle from the engine it works fine but when you push the gas pedal down it gets stuck. We ended up wiring the throttle down so it could only idle and we idled it four miles home. I'm going to need a new throttle cable and maybe a few other parts. The cable looks like its about to snap right by the gas pedal. Once all the snow melts off I have to get some serious work in on it this weekend. I got to get new dash lights too.

Talking about dash lights, I spray painted the back of my spare light deflector/bezel chrome with some chrome spray paint. Not the most reflective stuff ever, but better than the blue crap. My gauges are much brighter now, but a different color. They are more yellow, but there is more light!

I would also get a set of dual springs to return the throttle back to idle if that happens again. Chep and must have.

I plan on getting those because I think they are to blame too.

So you left peel out marks on a dirt road?

throttle cable is almost out. Its shreaded right by the cable. By peel out marks I meant tracks not rubber. There were some deep marks that we were looking at. Not rubber on dirt. Sorry for the confusion.
