Horn switch question
After owning my truck for about 5 years, I decided it was finally time to fix my no horn problem. I narrowed down the problem to the missing spring in the steering wheel. Does anyone have a part number to Napa or anywhere that may have the spring. Also, does it require more than just a spring inside the slot ? Thanks. I dont have my camera so I cant post pics... Thanks in Advance

Re: Horn switch question
The horn kits and horn parts that LMC sells (Canceling cam, contact kits etc) will work for the 67-68 steering wheels too. At the most you may have to modify just slightly. I have some of those parts on my 68 with the original steering wheel and they work fine. If you want original steering wheel internals and horn parts for your 67-68 contact Bill at Vintage Chevy Trucks, he's got the real deal.

Re: Horn switch question
For 67/8 specific stuff, you also may try Obsolete Chevy. Their website is a little harder to use, but I've found some stuff through them that I couldn't find elsewhere. I bet if you called, they'd be able to locate what your looking for faster than searching their website.

Just don't use LMC's illustration to install the horn parts, It's wrong. LockDoc

Here is a thread where I posted a picture of the horn parts and an explanation of how they are installed... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...highlight=horn If the parts aren't put together right the button will be loose. The picture of the horn parts in the LMC catalog is incorrect in how the parts go into the wheel. They have two of the parts reversed. LockDoc

Re: Horn switch question
Cool. I missed the pic of the parts assembled, but from reading your instructions on that link, it appears as though LMC's diagram has part #8 (the plastic retainer) out of order. It should actually be installed inside #7 (the metal cup) as opposed to being under it, as they show.
If I'm misunderstanding, say so. I just figured I'd get it all in this thread in case somebody comes looking at it later.
