Before & after 3/5 Drop

Just need to get new tires and get my wheels blasted/painted buy beauty rings and center caps and I'll be pretty happy. (notice I didn't say done lol). Beauty rings are sure hard to find for sale which is weird because they came out on everything. Rides better than before. Especially because of the rear.

Cut the springs up front and ordered the ECE 5 " drop kit. Very nice materials from ECE.

yeah when this truck was restored they used factory height suspension and boy was it tall. Springs were only a few years old but I didn't feel bad about taking em out lol.

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

Looks good man.

As for the beauty rings. It's hard to find used ones because most of them are usually beat all up. Some guys have bought some off e-bay, and liked them. Other than that just keep your eye out.

I got my Deep Dish Rings and Center Caps from this Vendor: http://www.desertroseds.com/

Got a set of 4 (including shipping) for $160.00 !!!

I believe the Owners name is Barbara. When one of the Center Caps went flying off (because a "Tang" broke off) she sent me a replacement at no cost, and that was 2 months AFTER I bought them.
They werre helpful in the Measurements and took great care to answer all my questions!

Putting Rings/Center Caps on your Truck is the one improvment that will give you INSTANT Gratification!

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

I definitly agree, the truck looks great! What did you do with the passenger mirror? Did it only have one? I see the driver one is never there. Just wondering because I can't see the holes either. Please tell me I'm not getting THAT old!!!!

haha good catch... When I bought it it had both mirrors. I replaced the door skins due to rust and loads of bondo on the bottoms. Repainted new door skins, front fenders, grille, and under hood due to scratches/flaking paint/poor prep work by previous owner. I just had to have things done right. The new door skins came with no holes so I just left the mirrors off.

Looks great man. That is exactly the stance and wheel combo I'm going for. What size tires do you have or wanna get?

I am not sure of the numbers right now but I want all 4 to be the same height of the back ones in the new pictures. I think I will need the front ones to be not as wide though as it seems the front sets out a little more than the back.

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

The track is wider up front. If your going to run rallys, you need to get some of the rare 7in for the front, they will correct the track. Check out this link if you have not already seen it. BTW thanks...

haha yeah right dude I can't even find beauty rings LOL. Yeah I saw that thread and I'm glad I did because I wouldn't have noticed the front sticks out more and probably would have gotten all tires of the same size.

No doubt. I got one 15x7 from lolife. I found 1 15x7 locally. I don't know if that will only make a difference if you are gonna use drop spindles(which on a earlier drum brake front-end will push the track width back in).

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

If I recall, Lolife99 may have a couple for sale. You may want to contact him if you are interested. They do look sweet on these trucks.

I'm sure you may have seen these trucks on the forum, with these wheels. If not, here is "Blank Slate" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=353633

And "Nolife" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=338655

Re: Before & after 3/5 Drop

Hey sorry about the eye that sucks. Happened to me once at the beach with sand...(basically glass). Eye got so bloodshot it looked like I was stoned for 2 weeks straight.

As for the Beauty Rings. You can get them through most of the resto companies. Check Brothers, LMC, Classic Parts, Truck Shop, etc. Most of these have websites. That is if you want to buy new. I bought mine at the Portland Swap Meet last year. I went with 3" deeps, but wish now I had gone with 2" to show off more of the wheel. I looked for used ones, but they were more thrashed than I wanted. Otherwise, try Craigslist.

Nice stance. I just received my 3/5 drop springs from CPP. Replacing heated and compressed springs with quality ones. Installing soon.

Did you do a C-Notch on the frame?

Post #11 he said what he did...
"On the front I cut 1 full coil off. Actually I probably cut about 3/4" more than 1 full coil."
