Is it a turbo 350 or a 400?

How do I tell if the tranny in my 72 is a 350 or a 400? According to the glovebox sticker the option #is m49. If it helps the drain plug is in the front of the pan. Can anyone tell me from this information? thanks.

Look at the shape of the tranny oil pan. A TH400 will look like the small pic.

Re: Is it a turbo 350 or a 400?

Since I'm originally from Ohio I describe the 400 pan as being roughly shaped like Ohio.

I think the 350 is sort of square with a corner notched at an angle.

Google trans pan shape or something...
