My new 79 C30 454/4spd

Hello guys.
I went and bought a 79 C30 Camper Special with a 454 and 4spd a little while ago. Just have to pick it up this weekend when I get back home. I'm out of town for work right now.
It is rough around the edges but the price was right. I basically paid for an engine and got the truck for free. Not too worried about the rust, everything is repairable. I have a line on another one, same year with a 350/auto but I just could pass this hauler up.
Here's what it looks like.

Glad that you are going to save it. Most trucks like this get used for the drivetrain and sent to the scrapper.

I hear ya. The guy selling it asked if I wanted it for just the engine. Apparently there was a lot of interest just for the BB. I wanted the whole thing because up here I am seeing a lot less of this body style on the road up here especially the dually.

Re: My new 79 C30 454/4spd

I had the same truck, but with single-rear wheel and the 454 had been swapped out for a 350. Sold it a couple years back, and have regretted that decision ever since. Would like to find another one of these old beasts soon...

Re: My new 79 C30 454/4spd

Darn it! It's been a busy weekend and I did not get a chance to pick up the truck yesterday. Now I just got a call that I need to pack up and catch a flight to one of our outstations because they are getting snow and both of their aircraft deicers are down. I work as a ground equipment tech. for our major Airline.
So I won't be back until Friday next week and my new beast has to sit and wait for me to pick it up.:-(

You best cover it up good until you can pick it up, I'd hate to see a body like that go bad due to the weather...

Duallies are badass, every one, particularly those with big blocks under the hood.

I hear ya brother! They just look tough to me, like they mean business. Short and wide like a bull dog.

Re: My new 79 C30 454/4spd

Does anyone have a picture of a shiny truck in this color? I think it's either Yellow or Jasmine Yellow.

Thanks

Richard

V43 - Painted Rear Step Bumper
XPF -
YPG -
ZY1 - Solid paint

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Richard

Re: My new 79 C30 454/4spd

I wonder why the option sheet doesn't have a description of any of the option numbers?

Thanks for your time. That clears up most of them. There has got to be a color in there somewhere as well, no?

Not sure about that. Seems to me that I have seen this before.

You should also pick up the trailer in the background. If it's for sale.

I should have mentioned that I did pick it up and am starting to go through the mechanical inspection on it. I have been driving it with temp. insurance and it does like it's fuel. Revs around 3100rpm at 60mph.

Never thought about the trailer but that's a good idea.

Love seeing more vintage dually builds, every show I go to there's usually just 1 or 2 out of a sea of C10's
