For all you 700r4 converts..
Where'd you get it from.. local shop, big chain supplier, ebay, etc. ? Have you had a good or bad experience with the tranny itself(heard some horror stories from ebay buyers). Also can you think of any helpful info for a person wanting to go that route.. weird things you found out as you were going through it thta weren't apparent beforehand, etc.

Re: For all you 700r4 converts..
I just picked up one from a wrecked truck. I just pulled it out today and I'm snaggin everything I can think of that goes with it. Kind of nice having my own parts truck, but for a hoarder like me that can be a bad thing. I haven't checked the crossmember in my thruck but this one was sure a PIA.

Re: For all you 700r4 converts..
Thanks for posting! Keep me up to date with your progress if you don't mind.. I saw somewhere online that certain 700r4's may not require driveshaft work. I think it was the ones out of 4x4's, because they're just a bit different length(prob tailshaft only).

There are about 4 different lengths 700R4's for 2wd. Take a look at this link for size differences. Lots of good info here.
When we put one in my brother's 72 K20 behind a 402. A local shop did the rebuild. Get a later model, they have a lot of the early issues fixed. A properly built 200R4 is a good choice too. http://www.rowand.net/shop/tech/auto...issionswap.htm

I would try to stay local if possible. A warranty from a shop several states away is kinda worthless in my opinion, because of shipping charges you will pay if you ever need to use the warranty.
