New Engine
Probably bit off more than I can chew...I traded a guy an item for this engine. It's a 327 from 1967. It is .30 over and the crank has been ground 10 under as well. He built it for his Impala, drove it a little, then decided to build a big block. It has been sitting in a climate controlled garage for 5 or 6 years. He really took time to lock it up while it sat.
Can anyone help me on the valve covers? They look real nice, they even have what appears to be GM matching part numbers on the inside. I've never seen them before. I asked while I was talking to him if he did anything special to the heads (333882). He said the heads were stock with the exception of hardened valve seats (?). Much to my surprise when I took off the covers and I saw the roller rockers. Not sure if they're aluminum, but they have 1.50 stamped on them. I know everyone is pic crazy, so here it is. I've had the Edelbrock Elite covers for awhile, so they will probably go on instead of the others. |

Hardened valve seats means the heads have had the old seats machined down and new ones installed of a different material that will live longer with unleaded gas.
The valve covers look like some sort of Chevy Corvette covers.

I think they look like corvette covers too, but I don't want to call them the "rare corvette option" covers.

I'm thinking all 882 heads came stock with hardened valve seats. mortec.com says 882's were from 74-80 so they should have. 76cc chambers on a 327 doesn't sound too good depending on piston choice

That is a really nice find! I am jealous, I wish I still had my 327 in my '68 c10.
I do not believe those are the stock heads for that motor though. I can see in the pics they have the accesory bolt holes in them. I don't think heads had the accesory bolt holes until 1969, according to my chevrolet small block parts interchange manual. But anyways still a nice find! According to the chevy small block interchange manual, the 333882 head were for the 74-80 model years and were available for the 350, 400, and are 76cc.
