bumper bolts

hey guys how can i stop the bolts un the bumper from stop spinning. i found a nice sport bumper in the junkyard last weekend and could get it off cus the bolts went out half way and then they spoon?


any way to stop this with out messing up the bumper?

If it's spinning cause it rounded out the bumper hole, or rounded off the square under the head of the bolt, then you can grab the head of the bolt with some vise grips to hold it.

Or - cut a slot in the end of the bolt and hold it with a screwdriver, in conjunction with an open end wrench.

If it's spinning cause it simply is sticking out of the hole, then you can either (a) force it back into the hole by holding it with your hand or wedging a screwdriver under the nut to keep tension on it - or -

b) if it is sticking out far enough then put a 1/2" (or appropriate size) open end wrench on the square under the head of the bolt.

If its none of the above then just cut the bolt and be done with it.

If you put vise grips on the head, Cut a slot in a piece of cardboard and slide it on the bolt shank. The cardboard will protect the bumper from scratches while using the v-grips.....

haha and aslo what brackets will fit off a burb onto my truck for the bumper?
