Gas tank picture??
71 GMC original behind seat tank EEC
Trying to put my truck back together and can't remember how everything goes I'm trying to put the tank back in. The tank sending unit has a place to hook only one hose. The tank has a place to hook another hose over on the passenger side... that's two hoses. So I have two hoses coming from under the truck. One goes to the pump. The other runs up by the radiator and is just hanging there. I think that originally it went to some kind of smog canister or something? Since I am not running the canister, can I just remove that line and run a vented cap? Will I need to plug the connection on the passenger side of the tank too? Also, I also have two tubes in the cab from the passenger's side and they run UP in the cab like up beside the rear window... what are those and what do they hook to?? I blow in one with an air hose and it seems to circulate and blow back out of the other one. Advice and and/or some pictures would be appreciated, thanks |

Re: Gas tank picture??
the passenger side hose originally went to a high loop in back of the passenger side rear door frame then the hose went up to a charcoal cannister
the best way to run the tank is to hook a hose up to that high loop then a hose from the high loop down to the frame rail a couple of feet in back of the cab that acts as your vent and no vapors in the cab

Re: Gas tank picture??
Okay, thanks,
So can I just take the "high loop" out along with the line going to the canister, and cap the tube coming from the passenger side of the tank, and use a vented gas cap? I'll can just have one line going from the tank to the pump and a vented gas cap and that will work??... right?? |
