#17 saved one from the crusher
....well I picked this one up for scrap price, the guys stripped the hood ,motor, trans, windshield and most of the interior, and were going to crush what was left.
dosen't look like much , but has lots of good little things left: a perfect original antenna. An absolutely mint front bumper, it doesnt look like it was ever touched! both sunvisors a good floor mat (I need one for another project) both windhield wipers truck was a runner before they got it , and has a fairly new brake job on it. the front bed panel is perfect, and I need one of those for my 60 build. it has one of those accesory cut in fleet bed steps, I would never cut up a good bed to put one of these on, but it works great, very handy. now the rough stuff: the motor came out in a hurry, all the wires were cut, including the oil line for the guages(!!?) they tore up the core support, and grille support pulling the engine, but not bad, they are still useable. most of the wires under the dash were cut instead of unplugged... I am the proud owner of 2 more white spoke 6 lug wagon wheels! or?

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
Kudos for saving it. Too bad they did so much damage, but it is certainly too nice to send to the crusher. The grille looks reasonably straight too.

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
yeah, it's funny the job probably would have gone smoother and faster if they had just unbolted the front clip, and lifted it out of the way.

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
I am so glad to see someone is saving these from the crusher. So many good trucks and tons of parts are lost every year thanks to those.

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
Let's not talk about the ones they destroy in movies. We should start a Save the Early 60's organisation.

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
Nope, I have two of them. If I decide to use them. DO you know of they were ever offered in the 1960 model year? I know they are not in the GMC Accessories Booklet, but would the dealer have ben able to offer them?

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
floors aren't too bad, needs rocker/inner rocker up by the front though...no title... have to figure out how hard that is to chase..., and if it is worth it.
we loaded it up to take out to my dads for storage, and I noticed it still has the complete underbed tire carrier, and a spare with an original wheel! has 292 engine mounts, are they 292 only, or is it just that one is moved forward?

Re: #17 saved one from the crusher
The 292 right side motor mount bracket I believe is the same as the '67-'72 small block mounts. They are shorter than the '63-'66 V8 brackets. In the '67-'72's the small block motor mount brackets are in the forward holes (shorter brackets), and the 230/250 I6 brackets are in the rear holes (longer brackets)
