NP-208 Questions
Putting the truck together getting everything lined up, I noticed when I bought the truck looking at the shifter it was not the NP-205 I wanted thought it was a 203. Crawling around under this weekend did some research and figured out it is actually a NP-208.
Did a search on here and didn't really find any info doing some google searches and getting a little more info. It has a 2:61 low range and is chain driven. Anybody have any more info, pro's or con's on this t-case. This rig will not be put through anything that is pure hell so I am not going to worry about replacing it but would like to know more about it just for general knowlege as there aren't many discussions on it.

Re: NP-208 Questions
np208s are a good driver tcase, not as strong as a 205, but still beefy, and nowhere near the weight. np241 is better becasue of an internal oiling system, but only 1989 year burbs, crew cabs, and blazers (old body style) have the passenger side drop. 90-91 241 cases were still passenger drop in obs, but had electronic speedometer.
Nothing wrong with it, i know people who wheel em. Im swapping the 208 in my 86 for a 241 for the oiling system, although its not needed.

Re: NP-208 Questions
My 84 3/4 4x4 had a sm465 and a np208, I broke clutches, axles, drive shafts and a engine and never had any trouble out of the t case. That was sled pullen, mud boggen and wide open 4wheelin with all 4wheels of the ground.
