Finally got my truck back from body shop...they did an awesome job...I had them removed chrome on sides..since passenger side was all tore up...they filled welded up the holes and smoothed...and fixed a few more minor dents...then I wanted the original black paint..(without the white on top and on grill.........)..I
I went with ppg Raven black..i think its 9700 or something..but I'm VERY HAPPY..its awesome..... Im going to start on the interior next week....gona order everything monday...still trying to figure out best place for seat covers..carpet etc... I cannot figure out what kind of rims I'd like best..maybe you guys could help me by posting some pics on similar truck....I'd really appreciate it... (I have the original 6 lug 15" wheels all around... Kevin ![]() |

Re: Wheel suggestions for my 68
Very nice!
I guess my questions to are: What theme are you seeing your truck in? Hot rod Vintage 68 stock work truck Planning on lowering it? Daily driver resto-mod What are you expecting people on the street to get a thrill out of? Engine Engine sound Paint Vintage look All kinds of choices out there on wheels, but people saying "put 22's on it!" when you are planning to just keep the originality of it kinda makes no sense. Same goes if you are planning on hot rodding it or making it a resto mod. Right now for me, I'd think it would look cool with matte black powder coated OEM steel wheels with taller truck tires and a red interior. But that's me...

Re: Wheel suggestions for my 68
Very nice paint and body work. I wish my 68 looked nearly as good. Not cheap but clearly well worth it. I don't think any of us can help you with rim choice unless we know more about your overall theme and your goals. Are you going to drop it? If so, then a 6 spoke Torque Thrust or similar would be nice. If stock height, then maybe an oem 6 lug truck rally or aftermarket Corvette rally would work with some wide BFG 255/60 and/or 275/60s. I would keep the rims silver, polished or chrome though to contrast with your black paint and set off the bright trim work you have. I would also paint your plates black/yellow or obtain some original black plates and register under the Y.O.M. program with the CA DMV. Would look real sharp with your black paint. Buyers will pay extra for a truck with black/yellow plates.

![]() I want to drop it 4 inches or so..but not quite sure how yet..I do know I have the heavy duty leafs on the rear..so I guess the cheapest best way would be to get lowering springs...and for the front I definately want the lowering spring kit...maybe with drop spindles..but probably wont be able to afford that for a while...... And I really like the look of the ralleys with the chrome trim ring and center caps.. ![]() |

Re: Wheel suggestions for my 68
Personally I always liked the different varieties of classic rallys. Nowadays they are being reproduced in all different sizes and bolt patterns. Might not be the look you were going for, just a suggestion...

Re: Wheel suggestions for my 68
To be different....why not just drop it? 3.5 up front and 5.0 out back and keep those wheels and caps. It's different enough and your black needs some bling. Those wheels/caps are bling enough and subtle. I like it.
You could have the wheels powder-coated in a near-chrome, if you like.

I would like to see it with stock caps, but a lot wider wheel. Maybe 15x8s all around or 8's in the front and 15x10's in the rear. Stock looks, just beefier. |
