What exhaust setup have you got??
I am at the point where I am going to start setting up the exhaust on my 66 LWB Fleetside project. I am trying to figure out the best route and sounding setup. I understand that it is a preference, but any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I have to start with....
I am putting in a rear mount gas tank also, so any problems or recommendations would be great.

Re: What exhaust setup have you got??
i too have a rear mount tank. I have header mounted glass packs and will be running the tail pipes back to the trailing arms and then outside the frame rails, exiting at the rear of the truck.

Re: What exhaust setup have you got??
Any pics of the setups would be great. My buddy keeps saying how it should go, but I'm not convinced. Also, where do i get the header pipes from the rams horns down to the new exhaust?

Re: What exhaust setup have you got??
Personal preference was all, I just like it with turn downs. I thought about going out in front of the rear tires, but I've had cars with that arrangement and it's really hard on aluminum rear wheels. I didn't want full tailpipes because of the rear mounted tank, and didn't want interference if it needed to be removed. So yes, I do have a custom 33 gallon Rock Valley tank mounted behind the axle. At the time I designed the tank this was a long distance freeway commuter. Having lived through the gas shortage period of the 70's, I wanted the biggest capacity I could fit in the space available (limited trips to the pump). It tucks up nicely, but if I had it to do over, I'd go for something closer to 20 gallons. Now that I'm retired it takes a long time to use up a full tank of gas. Here's a shot of how well the tank fits, so full tailpipes would have fit okay:

Re: What exhaust setup have you got??
Thx Markeb01. U answered my question perfectly. I really like your setup. I'm strongly considering the same idea.

Re: What exhaust setup have you got??
Full Length headers, true duals, H pipe, 3 chamber flowmasters, turn downs near the rear.
Not the absolute setup for power, but one of the best sounding setups I have hear (but then again, I'm biased). |
