Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

Within the next week or two I hope to be picking up the Circuit Rider which means I have to get insurance soooooo...below are the bids so far with similiar coverage:

Haggerty $320 per yr.

Grundy $225 per yr.

Barrett Jackson $232 per yr.

American Collector $908 per yr.

State Farm $650 per year

My Insurance will only insure for up to $24,000 and thats with another company.

All drivers must be 25 years or older.

Milage 3,000-5,000 miles I am guessing this is way more than I will actually be driving the C10
Value Stated $30,000 zero deductable.

One thing to remember...if you carry Umbrella insurance, I know Grundy will increase by like $10 to bring your coverages upto $250/$500 or at least it did for me in NC! Also have to show that you have other vehicles for daily drivers and of course must be locked garage kept....

I didn't realize the "Unbrella" insurance which I have.

Yes...you need another insured vehicle which is used as a daily driver.

The spread in premiums is what surprized me.

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

Talked to the first 4 you listed within the last month. Hagerty was not the cheapest but seemed to be the best value to me. No mileage restrictions, (although it is not to be used as a daily driver). I asked if I wanted to take a road trip, even drive cross country would it be a problem? They said no. I asked if my kids could drive it, (all under age 25). They said yes, that's how kids get involved in the hobby. (Future business). Their claims department is in-house, not farmed out.

There are real differences in these companies coverage and restrictions and how they handle claims. The Barret-Jackson insurance was explained to me by their rep as no different than insuring an art collection. I believe your truck would actually be covered under a marine policy.

Hagerty either put me on the phone with the slickest sales person/licensed insurance agent they have (an early 20's girl who knew her stuff) or they really are specifically tailored to and dedicated to insuring our trucks and supporting the hobby.

My family can enjoy my truck, (if I let them), I don't have to watch the odometer, and should I have a claim I believe they'd handle it right.
All that made it a better value to me.

i have grundy on my 75 nova and they have been very good to me (i have not filed a claim though) but i have no mileage restrictions either just can't drive to work, shcool etc. but they encourage pleasure driveing, they want you to enjoy the car hobby as they themselves are hobbiest, and a good price too

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

I have hagerty. I didn't call around when I got the truck insured. I had my 72 insured through them too, and before I took my 68 to the paint shop I just had them cover it (too many stories of trucks being stolen from the paint shops plus I trailered it 200 miles there). When I got it on the road, I just rolled it into a driving policy. I might look around a little more next year when it expires.

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

I will likely go Hagerty or Grundy. I want to compare the two insurances side x side.

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

We had Hagerty on our 48 Ford P/U with a 46 Pass. car front end. It was a complete one off custom, that was out of this world. My old man got the bright idea to drive it up wo Wisc. and see his brother. Two days after arriving, some punk kid backed into the front of it! My old man built the truck in 97, so he was the only one who knew how the metal work was done, but they would not let us do our own work. 20K out of the ins. co. pocket later, we had our truck back and better than ever! Great company to deal with!

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

I have Hagerty on my 71 and also on the 68, I have a policy on the 4x4 through them as well which will change once it is no longer parts and returns to being whole. The people of Hagerty are (or at least seem to be) good people and have saved me a considerable chunk of change since switching over to them from my regular policy, they charge me in a year for two and 1/2 trucks what my other policy charged for a single quarter and I have more coverage to boot, right now the 71 is insured for 35,000 and the 68 for 4500, the 72 disassembled is insured for 20,000. Heres to hoping I never have to use them

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

FWIW...I have repaired a couple of vehicles that were covered by Haggerty. One was a 68 Jaguar, which was about a $6000 repair. The other was a 57 T-bird, which was about a $15,000 fix. Both went smooth as silk. Absolutely no whining or bickering on either job. I personally, have never dealt with any insurance company, that was as pleasant to deal with as these guys were.

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

I think Hagerty really does support car enthusiasts. I have them for my '69 C30 truck, my '95 Impala SS, my '69 Charger, and '72 Newport. I thought I would have trouble adding my '95 SS because it's not "antique", but after sending in pics, they said, yep, that's a mint car, we'll insure it. No trouble at all. I was impressed.

Then when I added my truck, another agent actually called me after seeing the pictures (I can easily convert it from a rollback to a stake bed and I had the stakes on it in the pics, along with another pic with the General on the back) -- they guy said "wow, that's a nice rig you got there." The only reason he called was to pay that compliment. So that tells me that they really do have "car people" working there and not just some generic office staff who process claims all day. They also send really cool news letters to your email with lots of owner stories that are interesting to read.

They are the nicest people to work with and I would highly recommend them.

Re: Collector Insurance Quotes for the Circuit Rider-Big Range

I just signed with Hagerty this week. While getting quotes I used the 30k replacement value also. That number was based on an appraisal done by the local Chevrolet Dealer.

Hagerty would only insure my truck up to 25k. And they wanted to go 21k.

267.00 a year for 25k. I'm okay with that.
