Re: 454 Conversion
rolled with the stock one, along with a 7 blade flex fan....would barely hit 200 degree mark in dead stop and go traffic on hot cali days, ran about 180-85 in free flow and regular street driving.

Re: 454 Conversion
I'm currently using a factory 4 core radiator, with dual electric fans. For some reason it has never done a good job of cooling for me. Hopefully soon I will be installing a Summit universal aluminum radiator and the electric fans.

Re: 454 Conversion
Are both of your 454s relatively stock? Just curious why 1 would work and the other wouldnt. Are you both running t-stats?

Re: 454 Conversion
mine was pretty much stock...performer intake, 750cfm carb, full length headers into lake pipes, edelbrock water pump, edelbrock fuel pump, flex fan, no thermostat.

Re: 454 Conversion
I'm running a 396 with a 4 core stock radiator, 180 t - stat, performer intake and comp xtreme 4x4 cam. It will hit 200 on the hotest of days (108) around here without worry of getting hotter. I do want to get a better shroud, fan and clutch to keep it a little cooler though. If all goes well, the 454 is going in very soon.
