Just Ridin"
I took my 72 out for ride along some back country roads yesterday evening and it was great. There is something about getting in that truck and driving with the windows down radio off and just waving at people sitting on their front porches that just is so relaxing. The whole time I was driving I was just thinking of future "to dos" to the truck. Everybody get out and enjoy your trucks they are great.

Re: Just Ridin"
Thats one of my favorite things about living down here in gods country, is you can wave to complete strangers & they don't automatically think "whats that guy want?". Seems like people figure you're downright anti-social if you dont. john

yeah...thats the big difference in city folk and country folk...country folk depend on each other for help and stay sociable, where as city folk avoid each other by default... so that won't have to help someone needing it...or get ripped off by someone looking for a target.

Re: Just Ridin"
Yep, that is one of the things I like about living out here, people are so much more friendly then in California where I lived for so many years.
The reason I own these old trucks is because I enjoy just cruising in them and enjoying the drive. Driving these old trucks brings back memories of simpler times and slower living. I do use mine from time to do work around the farm, though. My son on the other hand is a lot younger and likes the loud pipes and smoking the tires from time to time. I am not sure how many of these old trucks he has had. Danny

Re: Just Ridin"
Driving my truck is my favorite thing, but waving to people might get me chased down the street. sad.
One of the bad things about living in the city. when i go visit friends in Indiana, people are so friendly even folks in oncoming vehicles wave to you. Last edited by beebster; 06-07-2010 at 04:33 AM. |

Re: Just Ridin"
I love doing the same thing.I really liked it better when I lived in Tx.They have Farm to Market roads which are paved 2 lane roads thru the countryside. An easy 45 mph. with only the occassional farmer plowing a feild or his wife on her way to town.Everyone waves and they only think you're out to get them if you don't.

Yep, gotta love cruising rural America in an American classic. Life don't get much better.
72Rookie, do you ever go to the Mo-town Saturday night cruise-in at College Square Mall? We could try to meet up there sometime.

Re: Just Ridin"
Yeah I go to the cruise in at the mall on occasion. I used to go all the time when I worked at Ingle s and they held it there. I have only had the 72 there once because it really isn't cruise in worthy but next time you head this way let me know and we will meet up.
