rear set up

if i am running leafs in the rear with bags, how many leafs do i need to take out?

That's a loaded question. The leaf spring is doing more than just holding the truck up. (which is all that the air bag can do) The leaf spring is also "locating" the axle and combating "spring wrap" (axle wind up). Removing too many leaves make is too soft and reduces it's ability to do these things. If you go this route, you need to add some kind of traction aide. (Ladder bars, Cal Tracs. ect)

If.... If your purpose is putting HP/TQ to the tarmac, you need Ladder bars, Cal Tracs ect. If you just plan to scoot down the road w/your OE 305 powered missle, the longest 2-leafs & bags gets it done. Beware of the fore-mentioned spring-wrap. Any power @ all & you'll be very aware of what Longhair described.....
