My 1963 suburban project
Well guys i just traded my 81swb for this thing. It is pretty dang solid. It has the typical rust in the front floor boards lower corner of the doors and in the front fender of course but other than that it is pretty nice. My plans are to Z the front frame 3inches, put 73-87 1/2ton suspension under it, step the rear frame up and bag it.Motor wise i am thinking bbc and the color i am wanting a pearl orange flat and two tone with some color. I posted some pictures of it and a picture that i photoshopped with some scissors lol not the greatest but all i have. The truck is what i traded for it. Let me know what you think

Re: My 1963 suburban project
Ya it is it looks a ton better. I am ready to start working on it but i have some other projects that need finishing up first. What is everyones opinion about putting a nova subframe under neath it? It seams to me it would be easier in the long run and get it on the ground much faster than z'ing the frame and switching out crossmembers. Has anyone done this before?

Re: My 1963 suburban project
IMO the F-body subframe is a waste of time and they are a little undersized for a heavy truck....especially a Suburban. I would stay with the truck suspension. There are plenty of inexpensive upgrades that can be done to the truck suspension.

Re: My 1963 suburban project
Save your money for the Porterbuilt dropmember. I know it seems like alot of money up front, but all of the frustrating engineering work is done for you.

Re: My 1963 suburban project
I own this Suburban now!
I guess I bought it from the guy you sold it to in KC, I bought it 2yrs ago. I am in the St. Louis,MO area. You'd be proud of her now It has a nasty SBC, world class T-5,A/C, pulled all of the glass and repainted the inside, fresh upholstery and air ride. The outside is exactly the way it was when you had it. |

Wow that is awesome man! Couldn't have done it any better myself! That's the one I shouldn't have sold but it looks like it went to a great home! Have any more pics of it?

Re: My 1963 suburban project
Dash pics, I cut up the original 4spd shifter and used it on my T-5 base so it looks original, cruises nice on the highway with the 5 speed

Re: My 1963 suburban project
Thanks, it's a cruiser, I have 3 kids and it serves us well.
I googled 63 Suburban images and ran across your pics you posted and back tracked to this site and registered so I could show you how she ended up. I searched all over the Internet looking for one with original panels/paint, was lucky enough to find it in KC. Everything is new except the paint. new wiring front to rear, disc brakes, rubber seals/window seals, carpet. It's a fun ride, thanks for not keeping it!! |

Re: My 1963 suburban project
This one isn't going anywhere.
I turned down a lot of money for it already, I had a guy stalking me for a whole weekend a couple weeks ago at the Lake of the Ozarks Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals. Can let her go yet, I'm pretty attached! |
