Re: Chevy Head?
Not suggesting that your eyesight is as bad as mine but, all I can come up with is:
3994026 - '71 454, closed chamber, 425 HP, LS-6, 118 cc.

Re: Chevy Head?
I dunno, more of a SBC guy. I suppose it depends on the work that may have been done to them, don't think you could beat aftermarket heads. Maybe the BBC guys can help you out more.

Re: Chevy Head?
They should perform great, but for their value you could get some nice modern iron castings. Should have better port and chamber design

Re: Chevy Head?
You know, it'd probably be a good idea to run the numbers on the front of the engine. You could potentially have a complete LS6 engine.

but i did come up with 3999289, date code was F1B 73(not sure if its a B), the front stamp was hard to read, but it looks like CE368045. Not sure about the 6. |

Re: Chevy Head?
Juat changed out the headers for the ceramic ones, and installed the March pulley's. Also just built the tonneau cover. Now I need to find some time and clean her up. I think my next plan will be to install a stereo system.

Oh wow, those rear tires fit the wheel wells great. What size are they? And are you running a drop? Sweet looking truck.

Re: Chevy Head?
the tires are 29x15.50-15 in the rear. It does appear to have a drop. I didnt build the truck. The guy who built had a great idea, but took some short cuts, so im trying to fix alot of stuff and put my own spin on it.

Re: Chevy Head?
Those heads are very simular to the 990 heads. They are open chamber and were to be used in the '71 ls6 that was to go in the chevelle and Monte but was canceled. Some believe they made it to production but I doubt it. I am actually looking for a pair to put on my '71 ss454 Monte that I am converting to an LS6. Pulling the original # matching LS5 out and putting it under the bench to protect the investment.

Re: Chevy Head?
One other thing the CE stamped in the pad on the block means it was a counter exchange and typically indicated it went out as a warrantee replacement. Hope this helps.
