porter built vs. other companies

i have finally decided to put a step notch in my truck after many hours of trying to work around it. so i am looking for a company with a good price as well as good quality, can anyone tell me the difference, suicide doors has a step notch for 109.99, grunion fabrication (local shop for me) has them for 130 and porter built has the for 180. is there a large quality difference?

Re: porter built vs. other companies

it is true that he makes a very nice product, he also has great product knowledge and guidance when installing his products. he is not a huge company, he is a small business that is specialized in this field that gives him the edge to me. he not only makes it, he uses it.

Re: porter built vs. other companies

the thing about Nate is he goes out of his way to help you through the installation if you have any questions/issues you need help with. To me, that is worth way more than the small dollar difference you noted above.

Customer service goes along way with me... Nate acted like I had been a customer of his for 5 years the first time I worked with him, as a bonus, his products and knowledge are precise and unmatched!! If I'm cutting up my truck and wanting to make "improvements", I'm going with Porterbuilt!!!

There is no doubt porter builds sick products.

Grunion is no slouch and local so why not cruise by and see the product and see what he can work on price. If you don't like it go porter

Porter is in Mesa so wouldn't that be just as local?
Of the 3
I have never done business with Grunions but their work is spoken of very highly and Dinos63 from here uses them as well as a lot of Porterbuilt products.
As for the two I have done business, with well...... one has a decent following with lots of advertising in the mags and the other is a great person with integrity and business ethics that could teach many a company about what great customer service before, during, and after the sale is truly about.
Nate will always get my dollars even if that means a few more than his competitors.
Josh

Re: porter built vs. other companies

thanks, i think im gonna swing by grunion and if it looks good, ill buy them, but if i see that its not what im looking for, porter built is the next option, the only problem is my truck is being nickle and dimes together, so money is a BIG problem for me, so what ever is cheapest and closest is what im going for

Re: porter built vs. other companies

They are all reputable companies that make great products. I would make the decision based on delivery and price. Whichever one can get it to you the quickest and cheapest is the one I would pick. With the companies you listed, quality should not be an issue.

Re: porter built vs. other companies

Nate is a great guy to deal with. No matter how trivial my question he always had an answer and never made me feel stupid after he explained it. (even though my question was pretty stupid).

He has excellent customer service and his parts are top notch!!! If I could afford it I'd buy a front and rear drop member..

Re: porter built vs. other companies

My truck has front and rear Porterbuilt in it and in the last few months I have been dealing extensively with Nate...I have bought alot of stuff from him and found he is one of the most knowledgeable guys when it comes to making these trucks sit right. Anyone can lower a truck but it takes someone with know how to make these things sit right. Nothing looks worse then a truck with tons of negative camber in the front.....to me it's all about stance and Porterbuilt nails the stance. Nate is a very down to earth guy and a pleasure to deal with, to me his products are second to no one....

Re: porter built vs. other companies

Careful guys.... we may see the term "man-crush" surface again!

Thanks for all the support... We definitely wouldn't be where we are today without all the support you guys have given us over the past few years. Can't wait to see what lies ahead! Over the next year we will be expanding our product base to the 47-55 first series and the 55-59 trucks! Maybe we can get a few more followers on the band wagon!

Nate
