my other money pit,, uh-34d
this is my sikorsky uh-34d that surved with my uncle in the marine corp in danang, chu lai, marble mountain, vietnam during 1967-1969. bu 150557, i have most all the history and lots of flight logs pertaining to this old bird. it served with the "ugly angels squardron". its complete with the wright 1820 cyclone engine and the m-60 door gun. this is one of my BIG TOYS! just for display. but very cool. the last ones not mine just on my christmas list!

That's pretty cool. It appears that climbing up for a closer look is discouraged?

Ahhh, the story of the helicopter comes out! How on Earth did you get it from the Gov't? Or did your uncle just come back and park it there?

Re: my other money pit,, uh-34d
after doing much research, we located it in tucson az. in a allied strike off yard. the government had "struck off " it and a few others in 1973. they stored it for many years. we struck a deal and trucked it to my yard about 4 years ago. i dont have the million plus to restore it so we just gave it a face lift. it is alot of fun! soon to mount the m60 door gun. will post pics soon..thanx for the replies!

Re: my other money pit,, uh-34d
now that was funny, the bird was on the top. and the cat sat on the wing for hours trying to get the nerve to jump up to the top, "its about 20' off ground"
when the cat jumped up to the top the bird flew down to the wing! trading places with each other. hehehehe..

Re: my other money pit,, uh-34d
Cool man! Not exactly what I had pictured when I read the title Money Pit and 34 D though! For some reason I had a 120 pound bleach blonde pictured in my mind! They really are money pits too! ...Joe

Re: my other money pit,, uh-34d
awesome!
I would love to have something like that... good thing you got it intact, I've seen some old warbirds at gov auctions, but you have to cut them up for scrape to make sure they can never be used again.
