BBC Small block stands ??
Has anyone used small block towers for a big block ? Can it be done? What problems are there?

Re: BBC Small block stands ??
It can be done if I am not mistake you add washers to the towers or so for some reason or another. but then again Anything can be done with little modification? But why would you want to do it the cheap way vs the right way. My 454BB was put in on my original inline6 towers, it drove fine motor sat back too close to firewal valve covers rubbed on firewal.. I have changed it since to the original 72 only mounts and towers Looks much better and I know it's safe.

Here's a pic of the differences-
On the left is the BBC motor mount, and on the right is the SBC motor mount and you can see the differences in the mounting holes for where the two mounts go on the cross member |

Re: BBC Small block stands ??
I tried to do it back in 1988 and the exhaust was a problem. I went to the local Chevy dealer and bought new big block stands for $28 a piece.

Re: BBC Small block stands ??
When we put the 454 in my truck we tried using the small block stands and they interfered with the headers.
We ended up using the big block stands out of a mid 70's C-20. When we put the engine in we hooked it to the old 4 speed transmission and let the engine settle where it wanted and drilled new holes. The distance from the firewall and the radiator turned out real good. Danny
